The FDM approves the expansion of the Benimaclet judo CEAR with an investment of €600,000 – Valencia

The Municipal Sports Foundation of Valencia has approved the expansion project of the Judo High Performance Specialized Center (CEAR) of the Benimaclet Municipal Sports Center, which will include the construction of ten rooms and the provision of better infrastructures for the training of elite athletes . The investment, of 599,999.99 euros, has a term of execution of the works of nine months. The Councilor for Sports, Javier Mateo, highlights that “with this intervention, Valencia takes a decisive step that turns Benimaclet into one of the best elite preparation centers for national and international judo and positions our city as a reference worldwide ”.

Mateo considers that “many and many athletes of this sport already think of Valencia as a training place when they aspire to the maximum in the world of judo”.

The Benimaclet Sports Center was classified as a High Performance Specialized Center (CEAR) for judo in 2018 by the Higher Sports Council, taking into account the quality of its facilities. The technical team managed by the Valencian Judo Federation, in agreement with the national one, has consolidated it as a benchmark in Spain and internationally. In this way, Valencia has become the ideal place to host training sessions, concentrations and competitions for elite judokas. The judo CEAR has also made it possible for our city to have been the scene of several competitions and concentrations where the best teams in the world have trained, such as the València Yudo Olympic Training, the absolute Spanish Judo Super Cup, or the pre-Olympic pre-Olympic concentration for the Games of Tokyo 2021 that had the participation of 120 athletes from 17 different countries. In addition, it has hosted several editions of the Junior Spanish Cup, Spanish Super Cup, among others.

Four official technical training centers in Valencia

Valencia already has four official modernization centers classified by the Higher Sports Council, plus another in the qualifying phase, which places it as one of the cities in Spain with the most centers of this type. The Benimaclet Municipal Sports Center is one of these centers, along with the ball center in Natzaret, the La Petxina Cultural Sports Complex and the Lluís Puig Velodrome.
