The promotion of women’s basketball in the Comarca Lagunera at the highest level will continue in this year 2023 with the inclusion of the Algodoneras de la Comarca, in the new League of the Basketball Association of Mexican Clubs (ABC), which last weekend week had its formal presentation in the city of Zacatecas, where the lagoon club was represented.
Guillermo Cepeda, president of the Algodoneras de la Comarca, as well as Richard Vasquez, head coach of the team, were present last Saturday at the press conference where the creation of this circuit was officially announced, which represents a new opportunity for growth for Mexican players, at a professional level and also as support for their development, since there will be National Cups in categories Under 18, Under 16, Under 14 and Under 12. At the same time that the league was created, the First Congress of the Basketball Association of Mexican Clubs (ABC – MEX), which had as a special guest María del Carmen Salinas, treasurer of the Senate of the Republic.
There is still no defined date for the start of the league, although it is intended to start next February, with the confirmed teams: Aztks from the State of Mexico, Barreteras from Zacatecas, Stars from Santiago (formerly Regias), Escaramuzas from Jalisco , Las Plebes de Mazatlán, Atléticas de Monterrey, Algodoneras de la Comarca and Marineras de Puerto Vallarta, as well as a member of the LBE, Centauros de Chihuahua.
