After twenty minutes it was over and out. Thanks to goals from Muja and Janssen, Antwerp quickly secured victory in Ostend. The coastal team failed to bring the tension back into the game via a penalty kick. Antwerp is thus again two points ahead of Union, for KVO the situation is becoming increasingly worrying after a 0 out of 15.

KV Oostende – Antwerp in a nutshell:

Key moment: With 20 minutes left on the clock, Bätzner misses the chance to score the tying goal. He places his penalty against the post. The sign that the turnaround was not for today.

Man of the Match: There was no need to really shine, but goal scorers Muja and Janssen were involved in every chance of Antwerp. At KVO, Sakamoto tried unsuccessfully to change course.

Statistics: For the first time since mid-September, Antwerp wins again away from home in the Jupiler Pro League. End of a lesser series.

Antwerp saves strength against “snack” Ostend

Without supporters – who expressed their dissatisfaction with the calendar by not coming to Ostend – Antwerp started the match scorching.

The first injections remained without consequences, but the first big chance was a hit. Muja put away the 0-1 well. It inspired striker Vincent Janssen to curl a ball to the far corner not much later.

Van Bommel’s fresh forces wanted to show themselves for a while. Nsimba capitalized on his second chance and secured the final score, good for a first away win since September. KVO is knee-deep in the relegation swamp.

6th loss in a row for Ostend: “We can’t score”

  • Anton Tanghe (Ostend): “We don’t actually play a bad match, but the first times they cross the halfway line, they immediately score 2 times. I had the feeling that if we scored 1 time, there would certainly be more. But when you see how many chances we had and still couldn’t score. The match could have lasted a long time for Antwerp.
