Won by three votes: These are the winners of iBBooster
In the online vote, 29 projects in the categories of social affairs, culture and sport were up for selection. The first and second place winners receive a grant of CHF 5,000 and CHF 1,000 respectively. For one of the winning projects there was opposition from the EPP in the budget debate of the Brugg residents’ council.
29 projects were up for election and more than 3000 people voted. With the iBBooster initiative, IBB Energie AG from Brugg wants to promote non-profit-oriented projects. In each category, the project with the most votes receives CHF 5,000 and the project with the second most receives CHF 1,000. On Tuesday, January 17th, the winners announced.
The Blauring Windisch summer camp won in the social category with 323 votes. “Even in 2023, we don’t want to do without enabling our blue ring girls to experience a summer camp,” the association describes the project. It is a valuable time that strengthens cohesion. Second place went to the project “Public candle-making with a coffee shop” by the Hausen rural women’s association (284 votes).
In the culture category, the Brugggore film festival came first and the Wednesday music in the summer garden moated castle came second with 426 and 384 votes respectively.
Employees, acquaintances and relatives mobilized
The Ju-Jitsu and Judo Club Brugg, which would like to hold a training camp in Japan, and various sports clubs from Brugg and Windisch, which want to equip the new fitness room in the Au Stadium, were in a head-to-head race in the field of sport. The Ju-Jitsu and Judo Club finally won with a margin of just three votes (670 in total).
“We put a lot of effort into submitting the project and collecting votes,” explains Ciril Grossklaus, former professional athlete and responsible for marketing and sponsorship. Employees, acquaintances and relatives were contacted, and votes were also advertised via social media and newsletters. “After training, we will toast to victory.”
Competition with great awareness and reach
Surprised but delighted with the win is Michel Frutig, festival director and one of the founders of the Brugggore Horror Movie Festival association. After all, there were two well-known and well-known competitors with the Wednesday music festival and the KleinLaut festival.
The Brugggore association took part in iBBooster two years ago. “Back then it wasn’t enough to win by a hair’s breadth. It’s all the better that it’s worked out now,” says Frutig.
In addition to winning CHF 5,000, the horror film festival can look forward to a financial contribution from Swisslos, but also from the city of Brugg. However, the latter is not without controversy, so at the last budget meeting in the residents’ council, a representative of the EPP proposed that this money be canceled, which was rejected. Frutig says:
“We take it sporty.”
So far we have received so much positive feedback that some negative publicity is not bad at all. “After all, it’s about a horror film festival,” he adds and laughs.
Voting for iBBooster took place online. On January 30th, the award ceremony will take place in the Excelsior cinema in Brugg, including the raffle for additional prizes of six times CHF 500 for all participating projects.
