FC Schalke 04: Transfer out of nowhere – Knäbel causes a big surprise

That comes as a surprise. FC Schalke 04 bagged a transfer that nobody expected. A Finnish national player comes to S04 from France.

On Thursday, Peter Knäbel announced the agreement with Stade Brest on the signing of Jere Uronen. The exact details are still unclear. One thing is certain: He should immediately strengthen FC Schalke 04 and arrive in Belek on Friday.

FC Schalke 04 signs Jere Uronen

The S04 must and wants to strengthen itself in winter. So far nothing had happened except for the loan of Niklas Tauer from Mainz. There were many rumors – but Jere Uronen was not one of them.

Sports director Peter Knäbel has now secretly, quietly bagged a deal and surprised everyone at Schalke with an upcoming transfer. Uronen, Finnish international, is due to arrive at the S04 training camp in Belek on Friday.

Left defense is strengthened

“We have reached an oral agreement with both the player and the releasing club. The medical check and some regulatory processes are still pending. The aim is for Jere to arrive in Belek tomorrow,” confirms Schalke’s top squad planner.

It is still unclear whether it is a loan or even a permanent commitment. Uronen is 28 years old and primarily on the defensive wing at home. At Stade Brest, he did not get beyond the role of supplementary player. FC Schalke 04 struck and now secured the services of the left foot.

More recent news:

Recently it had already leaked that Knäbel and Reis identified the left-back position as a weak point. There, promotion hero Ouwejan played weakly in the first half of the season and was often injured. Newcomer Tobias Mohr, actually a winger, had to help out.
