SCHIJNDEL/HEESCH – Immediately after Christmas, on Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 December, more than 200 badminton players traveled to Schijndel to participate in the senior tournament of badminton club Schijndel. Members of the Heesche Badminton Association could also be found there on the court to compete for prizes.

During the two-day tournament, which is held annually between Christmas and New Year’s Eve, badminton players compete against each other in different classes and parts. On behalf of the Heesche Badminton Association, Tessa Hoeks, Meike Brugman and Carlo Brugman participated in singles, doubles and mixed doubles.

These Heeschen residents quickly proved that they wanted to compete for the podium places in all parts. Of the eleven games played on the first day, nine were won. That series was quietly continued on the second day. As a result, Meike and Carlo qualify together for the mixed doubles final and Tessa and Meike qualify for the doubles final. Both finals were eventually also won by the players in the Heesche blue.

The Heeschenaren also managed to reach the final in the singles. There it was Tessa and Meike who had to fight among themselves who would go home as tournament champion. Two exciting sets resulted in a draw, so a third set was needed to bring the decision. In the end it was Meike who won with three points difference.
