Kobe Bryant jerseys up for auction expected to fetch up to $8 million – CNN.co.jp

(CNN) A jersey signed by former NBA star Kobe Bryant will go up for auction next month at Sotheby’s. The winning bid is expected to be as high as $7 million (about 890 million yen).

Up for auction is the Los Angeles Lakers jersey that Bryant wore more than 25 times during the 2007-08 MVP season. He is also known for a photo of him screaming after securing a 14-point lead against the Denver Nuggets in 2008.

Sotheby’s said in a press release that the iconic uniform has been the subject of numerous murals and illustrations, and has had an extraordinary impact on popular culture. He also noted the “amazing” fact that he scored a total of 645 goals in eight months in the jersey.

Sotheby’s estimated auction price is between $5 million and $7 million. The only NAB jersey to ever surpass that amount was one worn by Michael Jordan in the 1998 NBA Finals, which sold for $10.1 million in 2022.

Bryant’s uniform will be on sale along with a collection of photographs, illustrations and books, and will be open for bidding from March 2-9. It will be exhibited at Sotheby’s in New York in the first week of next month.
