Ligue 2: Paris FC relapses in Annecy, first away defeat since August

The players of Paris FC will still greet the twenty brave supporters who made the trip to Annecy. But their wry pout says it all. Given the state of the lawn at the Parc des Sports d’Annecy, they were not out of place in terms of playing conditions after having played on the unworthy Charléty pitch twice in one week. But the Parisians have nevertheless gone through, too approximate in their game. The absence of the regulator and metronome Paul Lasne, victim of a blow to the knee after the ugly tackle of Dijon’s Traoré on Tuesday, was felt.

It’s a cruel end to the series for Paris FC which remained on five away wins in a row where it had not lost since August 20 (2-1 in Niort), its only defeat conceded so far in nine trips. In the standings, the Parisians therefore finish this first leg in 8th place, six points behind 2nd Bordeaux. We will have to do a flawless to hope for better and especially not to repeat this type of performance.

Paris FC, reinvigorated since the post-World Cup recovery (7 points out of 9 in L2, qualification for the Coupe de France against Valenciennes) may regret the incredible opportunity offered to Warren Caddy in the first period. But the striker, alone against Escales, misses his dribble and loses his duel (33rd). After Kashi’s goal which benefits magnificently from a deflected strike from a bad return from the defense (1-0, 40th), Caddy is still unhappy in front of the Annecy goalkeeper (50th).

“The problem is that we miss essential matches”

Thierry Laurey multiplied the offensive changes (returns from Lopez, Guilavogui, Kebbal) but he was often annoyed in front of his bench. The Parisian players have indeed been reported… ten times in an offside position. They will be able to meditate for a long time on this lesson of efficiency inflicted by a promoted Haut-Savoyard who continues his good series (6 games without defeat). The little marvel of Annecy, Moïse Sahi Dion, on loan from Strasbourg (L1), took his team to safety (2-0, 77th), his 8th goal this season.

“When you have opportunities, it’s better to put them in the background, ironically Thierry Laurey. We had done what was necessary in the first period but we did not materialize. Afterwards, we are punished on a stopped, classic phase, which was identified. We’re not in the batter’s zone. After one on such a pitch… Laurent (Guyot, the Annecy coach) lied to us, Charléty is better than here… But we still had possibilities, a ball just to put in the bottom. We weren’t efficient, Annecy was with the crumbs we left her. On the 2nd goal, we lose a ball in a childish way… Moise (Sahi Dion) did not have to be asked, he… ”

The Paris FC coach continues: “It’s infuriating because with points tonight, we will have been tremendously well placed. There, we are necessarily less well. The problem is that we miss essential matches. There was Metz where we went into a spin at home when we could have been in the right car. Tonight, rebelote… We are not able to assume that. But we are not going to give up. We are already going to go into Coupe de France mode on Monday to play Chamalières in Clermont. »
