Nübel fails with Monaco in the cup at the second division

The French first division football club AS Monaco failed sensationally in the Coupe de France without their goalkeeper Alexander Nübel, who was loaned out by FC Bayern Munich.

The Monegasque lost in the second round of the cup at home 4:5 on penalties against second division relegation candidates Rodez AF. After regulation time the score was 2:2 (2:0) and there were no more goals in extra time. Instead of Nübel, who was sitting on the bench, Thomas Didillon was in the AS goal.

Maghnes Akliouche (23′) and Wissam Ben Yedder (37′) scored for Philippe Clement’s side to put them 2-0 up, but Joseph Mendes (42′) and Aymen Abdennour (80′) put the second division side on penalties. Due to the end, Monaco missed the leap into the sixteenth final.
