Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid offered reassurance regarding the condition of quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

“He’s worked hard with his treatments and is going to be ‘OK,'” the pilot said during his daily press conference on Monday.

Mahomes sprained an ankle during the first quarter of the Chiefs’ 27-20 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the conference semifinals on Saturday.

The quarterback was forced to undergo medical examinations in the locker room of his family, but returned to the fray for the second half of this duel with no future.

After the game, Mahomes said he intended to be in the All-America final next Sunday when the Cincinnati Bengals visit Arrowhead Stadium.

On Monday, Reid played it safe. He indicated that his athlete indeed believed he was going to play, but that the team’s plan was to watch Mahomes train. His condition will be reassessed on Wednesday, after the session with his teammates.

The head coach also said that Mahomes’ injury was less serious than the one suffered in 2019. That year, the star player had not missed a game and allowed his team to win Super Bowl LIV.

Jeff Bezos would like to acquire the Washington Commanders

In addition, the businessman Jeff Bezos would be interested in embarking on the adventure of professional sport.

According to what the daily “New York Post” said on Monday, the billionaire would consider acquiring the concession of the Washington Commanders in the NFL.

Two anonymous sources have mentioned to the daily that Bezos could also divest from the newspaper “The Washington Post”, which he has owned since 2013, in order to buy the team. A spokesperson for Bezos, however, mentioned that the outlet in the United States capital was not for sale.

Last December, Dan Snyder – the current owner of the Commanders – publicly expressed his desire to part ways with his NFL team. He acquired it in 1999 for US$800 million.

Snyder’s reign as owner of the Washington club was marked by controversy. In 2021, an independent investigation revealed that an unhealthy work climate was present within this organization.

The NFL also held an investigation into allegations of sexual harassment against the 58-year-old man. In addition, he was accused of committing financial irregularities.

Amazon, which is owned by Bezos, has held the rights to broadcast the Thursday Night Game in the NFL since 2022. This agreement is for a term of 10 years.
