Tennis – Successful start to the year for Burgenland’s tennis youngsters

Dhe talents of Burgenland’s young tennis talents proved themselves in Vienna at the BIDI BADU ÖTV Youth Circuit.

Burgenland’s young tennis talents had a strong start to the year 2023 as part of the sixth edition of the BIDI BADU ÖTV Youth Circuit. The tennis players from the Eisenstadt district played on the court of the “La Ville” tennis center in Vienna.

With Toni Kahlig (ASKÖ TC Hornstein) and Lea Haider-Maurer (ASKÖ TC Energie Burgenland AG Eisenstadt), BTV sent the two top seeded players into the U14 competition in the 23rd district of Vienna. 12-year-old Anton Kahlig celebrated two victories before losing out to eventual winner Gabriel Niedermayr (OÖTV) in the semifinals (1:6, 0:6).

Lea Haider-Maurer, who was also 12, made her mark on the girls’ competition, marched to the title with four two-set wins and only lost twelve games. In the final she defeated Marie Schuler 6:3, 6:3.

There were also red and gold reports of success in doubles. For the girls, Anna Posch (UTC Eisenstadt) won the title together with Lara Linder from Vorarlberg (7:5, 6:4), for the boys Anton Kahlig and Marcel Jelinek (NÖTV) made it to the final, where Gabriel Niedermayr and Lorenz Stadler could not be bent (6: 7, 3: 6).
