The hockey players of Třinec broke the losing streak in the derby in Ostrava, beating Vítkovice 2:1

The hockey players of Třinec broke a series of failures and after five defeats in a row, today in the extra league they got their taste with a 2:1 victory on the ice of Vítkovice. Sparta defeated tenth place Karlovy Vary 6:3 at home, despite already losing 1:3. Captain Michal Řepík secured Prague’s sixth home win in a row with a hat trick.

Striker Martin Růžička, who scored a goal and an assist, significantly helped the reigning champions Steelers to three points. Ostrava lost for the third time in a row in their fourth home game.

Vítkovic had a better start to the match, but two interesting opportunities for Fridrich were eliminated by goalkeeper Mazanec within a span of 20 seconds. On the contrary, the guests opened the scoring right from the first power play. Krenželok’s foul was quickly punished by Nestrašil, who got a lot of free space in the circle and shot past Klimeš after Růžiček’s cross pass.

The spectators were immediately lifted from their seats by a fight between Kaluse and Voženielk, and then a series of three overpowering matches from Vítkovice, in which, however, the home team did not create the opportunities they had created.

At the end of the second half, the visitors also failed in a long game in five against three, and that was also because Marcink’s shot was brilliantly caught by Klimeš. But a second after the expiration of both penalties, Nestrašil passed across the zone to Růžiček, who volleyed the Vítkovic net for the second time. It was his twentieth goal of the season.

After all, Vítkovic revived their hopes in the next overtime when, in the 36th minute, Raskob beat Mazan with a bomb and reduced the score.

Soon after the start of the third period, Lakatoš could have equalized, but Mazanec did not let go of his shot on the ice behind his back. Vítkovice came even closer to equalizing in the 56th minute, but Raskob only hit the bar. Already 137 seconds before the end, the home team decided on a power play, but without success. Třinec narrowly won for the second time in the season in Ostrava.

Sparta broke the resistance of Energy

Sparta scored for the ninth time in a row and won for the eighth time. The Energie team suffered only their second loss in the last six matches.

Sparta also started with fresh reinforcement Stefan Warg. The Swedish defenseman was on the ice for the first conceded goal after 130 seconds. Ziskra found Kovář Kohout in front of the goal, who opened the scoring. He could have answered after Konečný’s pass in the renumbering of Kaš, but he missed.

In the 7th minute, the people of Prague were already rejoicing in Beránek’s expulsion in the power play. After Sobotek’s shot, Lukeš’s left post helped, but Řepík, following Kousal’s offer, already aimed accurately.

Energy had opportunities to get back into the lead. In the 13th minute, he found himself alone in front of Kovář Kofroň, but did not shoot him. During Safina’s penalty, Sparta was helped by Bartejs’ shot from a position between the circles.

At the beginning of the second half, Kousal could have taken the lead for Sparta. Lukeš also dealt with Jandus’ shot. In the 25th minute, after Stříteský’s backhand shot, Hladonik made his way from the stop and gave the guests the lead back. Thanks to the assist, Stríteský scored his jubilee 200th point in the extra league.

David Vitouch did not convert the chance to equalize, and halfway through the match it was already 3:1 for the visitors. Redlich, who was fouled, left the puck behind to Kohout, who headed into the open goal and scored his second goal of the game. The action started with Warg’s foul on the offensive blue line, and the Swedish guard was also injured and left the game.

The home team pushed for a reduction and waited 83 seconds before the second break: Kempný fired from behind the right circle and the puck was knocked in behind Lukeš Tomášek.

Karlovy Vary continued to be dangerous, but Sparta resisted and equalized in the 45th minute. David Vitouch succeeded in a duel with Rulík, passed in front of the goal and the puck bounced off Buchtele’s skate and behind Lukeš.

In 98 seconds, the home team was in the lead and Řepík beat the Karlovy Vary goalkeeper from a corner kick. In the 52nd minute, when Gríger was sent off, Kempný charged Řepík to the left circle, who completed his second hat trick in the extra league. When Safina was sent off in the end, Energie went for a power play and the defender Němeček sealed the result in an empty net.
