The Preferred Senior Men’s team began the year in the same way that they had said goodbye to 2022, achieving their third consecutive victory against La Vila (65-63) to leave behind their difficult start to the season.
The prevailing tone of the game was the equality in the score that was maintained for a good part of it, with Carlos Vila’s team being some timid escape that always started from a good game near the basket.
The last one came between the conclusion of the third period and the start of the fourth, when they reached a 10-point advantage that seemed to tip the balance in favor of those from Dénia.
But La Vila was not willing to give up and with an extraordinary success from the line of 6.75 they again compressed the score, forcing an uncertain ending in which they got to have the shot that could take the game to extra time or even have given them victory.
The team knew how to compete and adapt to all the circumstances that arose, always with the best attitude, making the best decisions on the field to achieve a hard-fought victory, which brought those from Dénia closer to the temperate zone of the classification.
The next day the team will travel to Ondara to play a derby in which both teams arrive tied in the standings.
