In the class up to 57 kg, there was an open exchange of blows in the final between Pauline Starke from the Hanover judo team and the U23 European champion Seija Ballhaus from TSV Großhadern. In the golden score extension, Ballhaus was able to achieve the decisive Ippon rating and secured her first German title.
Vivian Herrmann from Garbsener SC, German champion in 2015 and 2016, was ahead in the final of the 63 kg class against Agatha Schmidt from JC 66 Bottrop with a Wazaari rating. A few seconds before the end of the fight, last year’s third place from Bottrop was able to turn the tide and also secured her first DM title.
In the class up to 63 kg, Giovanna Scoccimarro from MTV Vorsfelde, who last won the title in 2018, celebrated her comeback. Against Friederike Stolze from SV Halle, second last year, she made the decision in the final after 4:30 minutes.
On Sunday the women will fight -48, -52, -78 and +78 kg and the men -60, -66, -100 and +100 kg. The fight starts at 9:00 a.m.
