The municipality of Vícar has hosted this past weekend the Andalusian Indoor Archery Championship and which has had the Vícar Sports Palace as its setting. The competition, organized by the Vícar Archery Sports Club with the collaboration of the Vícar City Council through the Sports area, has brought together more than a hundred archers coming from clubs throughout the province and the autonomous community in the categories: absolute, junior, veterans, minors, cadets and adapted bow.
A select group of archers and archers participated from Club Indalarco, led by Sonia Sánchez and Raphael Amar, who ultimately confirmed their excellent moment of form and won the gold medal in the women’s traditional recurve modality, Sonia Sánchez and the young promise of the club, Raphael Amar, who at only 13 years old is taking giant steps to become a great goalkeeper on the national scene, won a well-deserved silver medal.
Sonia Sánchez, the goalkeeper from Indalarco and the new Andalusian champion, demonstrated an enviable poise and technique, overcoming the qualifying phase with an excellent score and eliminating all the goalkeepers who crossed her path in the round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals, and up to the grand final. , in which she got rid of her opponent with a forceful score, rising with astonishing authority with the Andalusian indoor championship in the women’s traditional recurve modality.
In the same way, I do not disappoint the participation of Rafi, as he is affectionately known in the Indalarco club. As there are no archers to compete in the compound bow under 14 category, he enrolled in the higher category, that of cadets, a category that includes up to 18 years. Due to the excellent score achieved, it allowed him to go to the final round, where after a very tight score in the runs, the end was reached with a tie. So the championship had to be settled with a golden arrow, that is, an arrow that would decide who would be the champion and who would be the runner-up. Well, both Rafi and his opponent obtained a 10, the highest possible score, so that finally the championship was decided by a few millimeters less than separated the shot arrows from the center of the target. As can be seen, this final was very close, obtaining Raphael Amar a well-deserved and very important runner-up in Andalusia in the compound bow modality for children under 18 years of age, facing rivals 4 years older than him. Raphael Amar, despite his young age, once again brought out one of his best weapons, such as his ability to concentrate, calmness and security at key moments of the competition.
This second place in the Andalusian compound bow championship, together with the excellent scores achieved in previous qualifying series for the Andalusian Archery Federation ranking, will surely help him to be part of the Andalusian archery team and represent Andalusia in the next Spanish compound bow championship in the under 14 category.
The Indalarco club is pleased with its participation in this call and continues to work so that its goalkeepers have the best possible facilities where they can train, improve their technique and advance in achieving better results in competitions at the regional, national and international level.
In the same way, the Indalarco club with its children’s courses, with the Provincial Council and the Education Delegation of the Junta de Andalucía in Almería, are working on the training of the young archers, who, like Raphael Amar, will soon begin to give us more victories in the next competitions, continuing in the footsteps of the most veteran and award-winning goalkeepers that the Indalarco club has.
