Antwerp will play the semi-finals of the Belgian Cup on Thursday. They have to clear a 0-1 deficit on the Bosuil.
Initially, Antwerp-suddenly-happened”> Kevin Van Damme was appointed as VAR for the cup match. Van Damme was also VAR during Club Brugge-AA Gent, where he did not intervene after Buchanan’s elbow strike.
Due to the whole fuss surrounding the VAR fiasco, the Referee Department decided not to let Van Damme act as VAR on Thursday. Jonathan Lardot has been named as his replacement.
This news will of course also affect Scott Parker and co. interest, because it was Club Brugge strongholder Buchanan who handed out the elbow punch. Van Damme is therefore (after Orban) the first victim of the VAR incident.
