Parents of the girl posing as the game say Arlisha Boykins, a 22-year-old coach for the team, stepped onto the field at Churchland High School in Portsmouth, Virginia, for a game against the Nansemond River JV team. The player Boykins was impersonating was out of town for a club tournament, her parents told WAVY-TV in Norfolk.

“Coaches always preach to kids about integrity and that kind of thing, so I was surprised,” the player’s father said in an interview with WAVY-TV.

The student’s father also stated that his daughter does not plan to return to Churchland High School next school year. Additionally, the family hopes to receive a formal apology from the school.

Following an investigation by the school, Churchland officials held a meeting with parents of the junior varsity and varsity girls basketball teams. At that meeting, it was determined that both teams would not continue to play this season, Portsmouth Public Schools spokeswoman Lauren Nolasco told USA Today.
