Richmond wrapped up the Atlantic 10 regular season on Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Robins Center when it hosted Fleur Wienert’s St. Bonaventure” unit. In the presence of 1057 spectators, the home team celebrated the victory with a crushing result – 87:45 (21:11, 17:5, 33:13, 16:16).

Emilija Krista Grava went on the field in the Spiders starting five. In 19 minutes, the forward scored three points (2p 1/2, 3p 0/1, 1p 1/2), grabbed two rebounds, made one assist, committed one foul and received four personal fouls.

Before the game, there was a tribute to the graduates – Emily Krista Gravas, Elaine Chapman and Angela Burgos. Third-year player Addie Budnik became the 27th player in team history to score 1,000 points in a career.

This season, Emily Krista Grav started 6 out of 23 games in Richmond’s starting five. The forward averaged 6.1 points and 2.3 rebounds in 18.8 minutes. The Līgatne girl made 47.4% shots from the game (54/114), including 33.3% three-point shots (14/42).

“Atlantic 10” championship will be held on 1-5 March at Chase Fieldhouse in Wilmington, Delaware. Fifth-seeded Richmond will play the winner of Dayton and VCU on the second day of the tournament. If successful, will face #4 Fordham in the quarterfinals.

Conference USA

The University of Texas at El Paso hosted the Florida Atlantic team of Nicole Ozola and Janet Rosenthal on Saturday, February 25 at the Don Haskins Center. In the presence of 1143 spectators, the home team celebrated the victory with 63:55 (20:7, 16:19, 18:16, 9:13).

Guest striker Janet Rosenthal scored 12 points in 37 minutes (2p 4/5, 3p 1/3, 1p 1/2). The Dobele girl had four defensive rebounds, one interception and four personal notes.

Sabine Lipe played nine minutes for the home team. The defense had one shot from the three-point line, one offensive rebound, two assists, one steal, one fumble and two personal fouls.

Before the game, there was a tribute to the graduates – Avery Krause, Sabine Lipa, Erina Wilson and Mari Petri. UTEP went 11-3 at home this season and earned an automatic berth in the Conference USA quarterfinals.

Sabine Lipe has participated in 27 games this season, averaging 4.5 points and 1.9 rebounds in 15.0 minutes. The defense made 42.7% shots from the field (38/89), including 35.6% three-point shots (21/59), as well as 86.2% free throws (25/29).

UTEP still has two away games to play in the regular season – March 2 against Western Kentucky and March 4 against Middle Tennessee. Conference Championship 8-11 March will traditionally be held in the Texas city of Frisco.
