Emma Raducanu suffers another setback and has to withdraw from the ATX Open.

British tennis star Emma Raducanu has delayed her return to competition by withdrawing from the ATX Open in Austin due to illness. Raducanu, 20, was scheduled to play his first tournament since the Australian Open at a WTA 250 event in Austin.

Unfortunately, Raducanu is currently struggling with tonsillitis and she will not participate in the inaugural ATX Open. In his post, Raducanu expressed his gratitude to the Austin organizers who did their best to give him a warm welcome to the tournament.

“I am sorry to have to withdraw from the ATX Open. I am currently suffering from tonsillitis and am unable to compete this week. Thank you to the tournament for the great hospitality here in Austin,” said Raducanu in a statement.

Raducanu suffers another setback.

In Australia, Raducanu was suffering from an ankle injury.

After the Australian Open, Raducanu took time off to heal his ankle injury before returning to action. Earlier this month, Raducanu sent a message, confirming his intention to return to Austin.

“Hi Austin, this is Emma. I can’t wait to come and play the tournament there. I’ve heard so many good things about the city and I’m really looking forward to seeing it for myself.

Hope to see you there,” Raducanu said in a video message she posted to her Instagram Story earlier this month. Unfortunately, Raducanu had a difficult start to the season.

In his very first tournament of the season in Auckland, Raducanu badly twisted his ankle. Although Raducanu was able to make the Australian Open, it was a race against time and she wasn’t fully fit for the first Grand Slam of the season.

Today, Raducanu again faces a setback and is forced to miss a tournament. The next tournament on Raducanu’s schedule is Indian Wells, where she received a wildcard for the main draw.
