FC Augsburg – Gruezo back in the MLS – Sport

Midfielder Carlos Gruezo from FC Augsburg is switching back to the American professional soccer league MLS. The 27-year-old, who still had a contract with the Bundesliga club until 2024, is now playing for the San Jose Earthquakes, as the Augsburg team announced on Wednesday. According to media information, the transfer fee should be three million euros. Gruezo came to Fuggerstadt from FC Dallas in 2019. In 75 competitive games, the Ecuadorian has not scored a goal for the troubled Bundesliga side. In San Jose, Gruezo meets his old coach Luchi Gonzalez, under whom he played in Dallas. “Carlos Gruezo approached us with the desire to switch back to the MLS in order to be geographically a little closer to his South American homeland and thus to his family. At the beginning of the year we therefore released him for talks in the USA.” , said Augsburg’s managing director Stefan Reuter.
