Germans get a beating from AZ talents in the Champions League for youth

The fact that AZ has quite a bit of talent in the youth academy was proven once again on Wednesday. Especially in the first half, Eintracht Frankfurt had very little to say. AZ keeper Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro had almost nothing to do. One time he really had to take action and he did great. Eintracht striker Derek Boakye Osei had broken through in one of the few German attacks and was able to strike from close range, but Owusu-Oduro was quick to the ground and saved with his left arm.

AZ had already taken a 2-0 lead long and wide and created a whole series of opportunities. The 2-0 halftime score was therefore still meager, given the power and opportunity ratios.

Celebrated man at AZ was Mexx Meerdink, who made both the 1-0 and the 2-0. The 1-0, already in the third minute, was a ticker after a shot from Jayden Addai came back from the post. He made the 2-0 after half an hour after a nice attack set-up via Lewis Schouten and Daniël Beukers.

Seasoning Addai

The taste maker of the first fifteen minutes was Jayden Addai, who entertained the audience with numerous actions. The right winger cut, turned and accelerated as if on a training exercise. After about twenty minutes the showtime was over and it was other players who did the talking.

They showed last Friday that the AZ talents also hold their own at a higher level. Almost all players who played in the Youth League on Wednesday came into action with Young AZ in the first division against VVV on Friday. Young AZ won that game 4-3. The talents can therefore not only compete against peers, but also against adult professionals.

Red card

In the second half, AZ ran further, although it first escaped a goal against a German shot on the inside of the post. It was Eintracht Frankurt’s last belch. The Germans had to continue with ten men after more than an hour, because captain Dario Gebuhr had to leave the field with red. He had put down the broken Ernest Poku.

In the last twenty minutes, Poku and Meerdink lifted the score to 4-0, after which Addai made it 5-0 from a penalty in the final minutes.
