He is drowning in debt – eXtra.cz

This didn’t go very well. Michal Sýkora (49) shone on the ice in the past, became a two-time world champion and played in the NHL. His hockey career was successful, but not so much in terms of business. As Blesk reported, Sýkora is drowning in debt because of his gold business. In addition, his friends from among well-known hockey players also want money from him.

Back in 2016, everything seemed fine. Former hockey player and NHL player Michal Sýkora and older brother of hockey player Petr Sýkora headed the companies MPM Invest and The Golden Investment, which trade in precious metals and jewelry. The companies had a turnover in the hundreds of millions and Sýkor was doing well.

It’s hard work. Similar to sports. It states that you will definitely not win without training. But just because you’re training doesn’t mean you’ll actually win. And it’s the same in business. But sports taught me to fight and not to give up,” he revealed in an interview for iDnes in 2016.

Huge debts

According to information from Blesk Sýkor, the business then expanded to Asia. However, the entrepreneur was subsequently supposed to run into one of the business partners, and thus lost 100 million crowns. At first he tried to pay off the owed amount himself, borrowing from friends and moneylenders, but in the end even that was no longer enough.

According to Blesk, Michal Sýkora’s company has been declared bankrupt, the former hockey player himself lost two barracks because of it. He owes coach Vladimír Růžiček (59) over two million crowns, he owes hockey player Robert Kousal (32) over four million crowns, Tomáš Kubalík (32) owes over one million crowns, he borrowed over eight hundred thousand crowns from Jaroslav Hlinka (46) and from Roman Červenka (37) even over twenty-five million crowns. However, there are many more names from which he borrowed.
