– Exceptional debut for the new judo section of Cus Macerata.
In nearby Civitanova, the sports club made its debut in official competitions in the third edition of the “Rodolfo Prenna” Memorial, it did so with two athletes and both Lorenzo Stacchiotti and Matilde Maria Mercuri took the silver medal around their necks. An amazing (double) result that also made the instructor Laura Moretti very happy.
The first to step onto the tatami was Stacchiotti in the Children’s class (8-9 years of age) and weight category up to 27 kg. In his first competition after almost three years of stoppage due to the covid and even in difficult conditions because he was influenced, Lorenzo managed to put three ippon (maximum score in judo) on his opponents from Fano and Civitanova. Arrived in the final, he surrendered with honor to the athlete from Jesi and conquered an amazing silver. Following was the performance of the other Cussina athlete Matilde Maria Mercuri. Boys class (10-11 years) weight category up to 33 kg, she too produced a very good performance, with more well-established techniques and various advantages acquired over the opponents of Moie and Castel Bolognese. Result? An excellent second place.
Now the attention is turned to the next collective training which will be held in the Cussina headquarters in via Salvatore Valerio on Sunday 26 February, athletes from all over the province are expected.
