Machado and Padres finalize contract extension

Apparently the Dominican Manny Machadostays in San Diego.

According to Espn journalist Jeff Passan, the Padres and the star third baseman finalized an 11-year, $350 million deal.

With this Peter Seidler, owner of the Padres, makes his word that his main priority is Machado, after the All-Star made it clear that at the end of the 2023 season he would exercise the option to free agency in search of a good contract.

Manny Machado will begin the fifth season of a 10-year, $300 million contract.

Said contract has an escape clause after completing its fifth year.

Machado was second for the NL MVP award, behind St. Louis first baseman Paul Goldschmidt.

In 2022, the Dominican hit .298 with 32 home runs and 102 RBIs, with an .898 .OPS.

For life, the minister of defense hits .282/.341/.493, with 283 home runs and 853 RBIs.

With this, the third baseman becomes the first player in history to obtain two contracts of $300 MM.
