The Los Angeles Kings offered defenseman Mikey Anderson a very long contract extension on Wednesday.

The hockey player signed an eight-year contract, the maximum allowed by the collective agreement. As of the 2023-2024 campaign, Anderson will receive $4.125 million annually.

“We are very excited to be able to count on the services of a player like Mikey Anderson for a very long time,” general manager Rob Blake said in a statement. Mikey has become a trusted player and he is responsible in his territory. He is also very respected in our dressing room and we believe he will become a leader.

Selected in the fourth round (103rd overall) of the 2017 draft, Anderson has been playing full-time with the Kings since the 2020-2021 season. The 23-year-old has hit the target twice and provided 11 assists for 13 points in 55 games so far this season. He also maintained a +10 differential.
