Mo Farah says 2023 will probably be his last season

The British Mo Farah announced this Tuesday that 2023 will probably be its last season. “I will not compete in the Olympic Games and I think that 2023 will be my last year,” declared the athlete.

The four-time Olympic champion, who turns 40 in March, could end his career at the London Marathon on April 23.

“I’m not young anymore. I wish I could finish at home,” said the four-time Olympic champion in statements released by the organization of the race. But Farah does not rule out attending the World Championships in Budapest, from August 19 to 27, if he is selected. “If they select me, I will never say no,” he stressed.

Mo Farah has twice completed the 5,000 and 10,000 meter double at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Games. He is also a six-time world champion in those distances, but has never won the London Marathon. In three starts, his best result was a third-place finish in 2018.

“I’m going to prepare, I’m going to Ethiopia and I’m going to train well to see what I can do in April,” said Farah, who had to withdraw last year due to a hip injury.
