Having sprained his ankle during Saturday’s second-round playoff game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the star player took part in all of Wednesday’s practice with his teammates.

“I think he will do anything to be there. […] We have to make sure, however, that it is safe for him to send him on the field,” commented chief instructor Andy Reid at a press conference.

“I’m fine and I’m ready to play. I had a few days of treatment and fitness. It’s exciting to be able to test all of this in training, said the pivot, adding that he followed his family activities without too much physical difficulty. We’ll see, but so far so good.”

Mahomes completed 22 of 30 passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns against the Jaguars. His troubles forced Reid to momentarily bet on Chad Henne behind center.

Progress for Hardman

Wide receiver Mecole Hardman, meanwhile, was a limited participant in practice. Reid wouldn’t say the 24-year-old would be in the game, but he could see he was feeling better.

Hardman hasn’t played since Week 9 due to a pelvic injury he sustained in November. He had six touchdowns and over 300 yards in eight games.

Number 17 was a member of the Chiefs’ Super Bowl champion edition in 2020.
