NFL will be visiting Germany twice in the coming season

For NFL fans in Germany there is unexpected reason to be happy: In the coming season, two games will be played as part of the International Games in Germany.

As the NFL has announced, the Kansas City Chiefs and the New England Patriots will each play one game of the regular season in Germany.

It has already been confirmed that Munich and Frankfurt will be the NFL venues for the next four years. Where exactly the teams will play is yet to be announced.

Double pack thanks to construction work in Mexico

The fact that two NFL games will be played in Germany is due to construction work at another venue that was originally planned: Renovation work will have to be carried out this year at the Aztec Stadium in Mexico City.

“We couldn’t be more excited to attend a Germany game and bring more people from around the world to the Chiefs Kingdom this fall,” said Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt ahead of time.

Robert Kraft, Patriots Chairman and CEO, said: “We know that some of our most passionate fans live in Germany and we look forward to finally playing a game there. We know that the fans will create a great atmosphere . We are sure it will be an unforgettable experience and one of the highlights of the 2023 season.”

In November last year, the NFL made its first guest appearance in Germany. In Munich, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won against the Seattle Seahawks.

Three games in London

In addition to the two games in Germany, the NFL will once again set up camp at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. The Buffalo Bills and the Tennesse Titans will play there. The Jacksonville Jaguars, on the other hand, are returning to Wembley Stadium.

“Growing the league and our sport internationally is a key strategic priority for the NFL, and we’re excited to return to playing five games outside of the United States in 2023,” said NFL Executive Vice President Peter O’Reilly.
