Paris Judo Grand Slam begins with Latin American presence

The prestigious tournament scheduled until tomorrow attracts competitors from 82 countries, 30 more than the participants last year, when the Latin Americans left without medals.

For the first day of activities, the judokas of the divisions of 48, 52, 57 and 63 kilograms are summoned between the women and the men of 60, 66 and 73.

France is the favorite to dominate the medal table, with 56 registered athletes, 28 of each sex, considering that the dominant power of the discipline, Japan, only brought nine representatives, six of them female.

In Latin America and the Caribbean, Brazil (26), Cuba (10) and Argentina (eight) stand out with the largest number of judokas.

Tomorrow the Grand Slam in Paris will close with the dispute of the medals in the divisions of 70, 78 and more than 78 kilograms for women and the men’s 81, 90, 100 and more than 100.
