Regional league club Kickers Offenbach informed on Sunday evening about the death of the former professional. “Our long-time striker passed away unexpectedly today at the age of 46,” the statement said.
Türker had spent most of his career in Offenbach. From 2003 to 2010 he played – interrupted by a six-month stay at SC Freiburg – for the Hessian club and led the team in 2005 with 16 goals in the Regionalliga Süd to promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga. There he also hit double digits in his first three seasons.
Before moving to Offenbach, the Turk, who was trained as a youth player at VfB Stuttgart, played in the Süper Lig for Istanbulspor and in the Regionalliga Süd for TSG Hoffenheim and for the second team at FC Bayern. After his time in Offenbach, Türker played for SV Wehen Wiesbaden for a year before ending his career in Offenbach’s second team.
Overall, he played 101 games (38 goals) in the 2nd Bundesliga, 40 games (five goals) in the 3rd division and 105 games (34 goals) in the then third-class Regionalliga Süd.
