As the temple of French tennis, the Philippe-Chatrier court at Roland-Garros is used to seeing breaks. On October 21, it will even see breakers, since the Red Bull BC One 2023 breaking final will be held there. This is the third time that Paris has been the host city.

This “unofficial” 1v1 world championship, created in 2004 and considered one of the most prestigious competitions in the discipline, takes place each year in a different city. 16 B-boys on one side and 16 B-Girls on the other compete in battles to determine the champion and the world champion. In 2023, Paris will take over from New York for what will look like a dress rehearsal for the 2024 Olympic Games, where breaking will officially enter the program.

To participate, breakers and breakers from around the world will first have to go through national qualifications. In France, four qualifying events will take place, starting with that of Saint Rémy this Sunday February 12, before the French final in Montpellier on July 9. The last and only Frenchman to have won the Red Bull BC One is B-boy Lilou, winner in 2005 and 2009.
