Three new international medals for Soriano badminton

Last weekend at the Arroyo de la Miel Sports Center in Benalmádena (Málaga), the Valonsadero Badminton Club achieved three new international medals for badminton from Soria in a test on the European Badminton Federation calendar. The Soria flyers, trained by Carlos Palero, were once again the protagonists in the “Andalusian Spanish U15 Open 2023”, one of the events on the European U15 calendar scheduled for this season.

The U15 tournament, for which the Spanish Federation did not summon the national team on this occasion, took place in parallel to the U17 category during three intense days of competition. Outstanding performance by Hugo Sanz who won the first two international medals in the men’s singles and doubles events, in the latter with his teammate Dario Míguez (A Estrada). The Valonsadero volantista proved to be among the best in the tournament, losing in some disputed semifinals in both events, especially in the men’s singles against the Spanish champion, David Carvajal from Huelva, by a score of 20-22, 22-20, 20-22 . Good performance also for Ian Antón and Irene Gárate who, despite not arriving at the event in their best physical condition, managed to get on the third step of the podium in mixed doubles.

In addition, from the Valonsadero Badminton Club, Miguel Pérez and Noel Romera also attended the European event Africa Gazo, who were close to overcoming the group stage in the respective tests they played.

Already in a national key, both the sub15 competition group and the rest of their colleagues from other categories have returned to training this week with an eye on the next events on the competition calendar, specifically the TOP TTR Cantabria N7 Sub17 of this next Sunday and the National Master N4 Sub17 of Alfajarín on the 18th and 19th of this month.
