The San Sebastian debuted with victory, she reached the first round of the final draw and in doubles Nerea Ivorra and Claudia Leal lost to the Americans Cao Hok and Lam
BÁDMINTON | Madrid Spain Masters
The opening day of the Madrid Spain Mastrers began with a strong Spanish accent thanks to the participation of Ania Setién and the doubles of Nerea Ivorra and Claudia Leal, who entered the tournament at the last moment due to last-minute casualties.
At 12:00 p.m. Ania Setién entered the track to face off with the French Yaelle Hoyeaux. The duel was not easy, however, the woman from San Sebastian was able to take the French woman to her land. The consistency and tireless fight of the Spanish were decisive in both games. A pressing game, without mistakes and with a lot of quality that she defeated Hoyeaux with a score of 21-19 21-19. Tomorrow she will face off with her countrywoman, Clara Azurmendi, who awaits the surprise derby in the main draw.
Less fortunate were Nerea Ivorra and Claudia Leal, who were taken completely by surprise when they entered the draw and had to manage an express trip to the capital of Spain.
Just as surprising was the start of the women’s doubles against the American pair Cao Hok – Lam. The Spanish began the match with a resounding 6-0 run. The joy for the nationals would not last long, as the Americans began to harass with relentless attacks against which our girls could do little. This left a result of 21-11, which did not scare Ivorra and Leal.
The Spaniards continued to push to go to the next round, holding more firmly the withering attacks of the American pair. The pressure to which the nationals were subjected, with a midfielder at the speed of light, did not let the Spanish go on the attack, which left a final result of 21-11 21-10 in favor of Hok – Lam.
