Dominican chair umpire Fabin Carrero is suspended in perpetuity

Lto manipulation of the punctuation of matches on 16 occasions has cost the Dominican chair umpire Fabin Carrero the sports suspension in perpetuity, reported this Thursday the International Agency for Integrity in Tennis (ITIA).

The investigation of the case has determined that in eight ITF M15 tournament matches played in the Dominican Republic between November and December 2019 Carrero manipulated the score 16 times on his handheld device, with the aim of facilitating guaranteed victories in bets at certain points.

Carrero was already sanctioned since March 2022

The referee was provisionally suspended by the Federacin Internacional de Tenis since March 1, 2022. His cheating repeatedly violated the Tennis Anti-Corruption Program (TACP), ITIA says.

“The sanction means that Carrero is permanently prohibited from refereeing or attending any tennis tournament organized or recognized by the governing bodies of this sport,” specified the body that watches over his integrity.
