‘Female badminton twins’ Kim Min-ji and Min-seon win gold, silver and bronze in international competitions

The twin sisters, promising Korean women’s badminton players, won the singles championship and runner-up in international competitions.

Kim Min-ji and Kim Min-seon (17, Lee Sang-chiak high school) faced off in the women’s singles final of the ‘2022 Netherlands Junior Open’ held in Haarlem, the Netherlands on the 6th (Korean time). Her older sister won the championship as her younger brother Kim Min-sun withdrew due to a thigh injury while trailing 9-11 in the third set with a set score of 1-1.

The two also paired up for a bronze medal in the women’s doubles. In the semifinals, she lost to Harimote Ririna-Kiyose Riko of Japan with a set score of 1-2 (23-21, 17-21, 14-21). Park Seul (Yeongdeok High School 3rd) and Yeon Seoyeon (Hwasun High School 2nd) made it to the final, but won the silver medal after losing 1-2 (10-21, 21-13, 21-23) to the Japanese players.

Park Bum-soo (Dangjinbo High School 3)-Yeon Seo-yeon won the mixed doubles final by defeating China’s Zhu Yijun and Huang Kexin 2-0 (21-15 21-17). Men’s doubles Cho Hyun-woo (Seoul Physical Education High School) and Lee Jong-min (Gwangmyeongbuk High School) also won bronze medals.
