FRANKISH DAY ONLINE | Kevin Krawietz: Tennis professional from Coburg in Miami in the round of 16

The revenge was successful: The Coburg tennis pro Kevin Krawietz (22nd in the doubles world rankings) won the sixteenth final at the ATP 1000 tournament in Miami against Rohan Bopanna (India, 11th) and Matthew Ebden (Australia, 18th) with 7: 5, 4:6 and 10:4 and reached the round of 16 with his temporary French partner Fabrice Martin (27th).

At the ATP event in Rotterdam, Krawietz had lost the semifinals against the 43-year-old “Tennis Grandpa” from India and the Australian. At that time, however, on the side of Frankfurter Tim Pütz, who is currently taking a baby break.

The first sentence

In the first set, “Kratin” and Bopanna/Ebden exchanged blows openly. In the seventh game, the Indian and the Australian were about to break. But Krawietz and Martin fended off three breakballs and brought their service through with a bang. The decisive break happened in the twelfth game of the first set. After Krawietz/Martin had left the first break and set ball unused, the second attempt was 7:5.

The second sentence

In the second set, Krawietz and Martin lost out early on, because Bopanna and Ebden took their service from Upper Franconia and the French in the third game and made it 3-1 with a successful service game. “Kratin” never recovered from this deficit and lost the round 4:6.

Der Match-Tiebreak

In the match tie Krawietz and Martin started well and led 4:1 after a break and three successful service games. After two more breaks to 8:3, the round of 16 progression took shape. A lost service didn’t change that, because with another break the 10: 4 in the match tiebreak and the 2: 1 victory were perfect.

In the round of 16, “Kratin” will meet the Dutchmen Robin Haase (48th in the doubles world rankings) and Matwé Middelkoop (21st) late on Sunday evening.
