He is one of the oldest volunteers of his club. 54 years old, Philippe Pasquier is a member of the archery club of Cande (Maine-et-Loire) since 1993.
Son engagement East almost as old than this associative structure, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2022.
“I am the ancestor, the living memory of the club”, slips Philippe Pasquier with a smile.
In his computer he has stored and classified thousands of photos and movies he shot and directed.
Child’s play
Son love story with archery goes back to childhoodwhen he was hunting carp with his brother.
I started with a fiberglass bow at 6 years old. My father went hunting and I collected pigeon feathers to make my own arrows. At first it was a game.
During his life he converted all his relativeshis wife and children.
His story with Company of SOC Archers started almost by chance.
“Initially, I joined the Combrée archery club. It lasted three months. The club sank. At the time, another member was going to leave for the Candé club. I followed him,” recalls Philippe Pasquier.
A year after taking out his card, he agreed to invest.
“I walked into the office. I stayed there from 1994 to 2008 and left as vice-president. It’s been three years since I’ve been a member of the board again. »
In 2010 he has graduated as a coach.
“I used to give lessons at the Espace Jeunes de Segré. That’s why I took this exam. For four years, I have been taking care of adults in Candé. »
A very active enthusiast, he launched new practices among the archers of Candé.
“I was the first in the club to practice shooting in the field. This is archery on a course. It’s a bit like golf. You have 24 targets to shoot with different distances, the shortest at 10m and the farthest at 60m. I trained alone in this discipline and I then trained many at the club. »
Philippe Pasquier is like this at the initiative of a field shooting competition organized by the club at the Château de la Lorie.
“I am a pillar of the club. But each time, everything is done with a team”, specifies the tireless archer.
Tire lever
Versatile, Philippe Pasquier has as it were several strings to his bow. He also practices olympic shooting, indoor shooting, beursault (a type of medieval shooting). He owns a bow hunting license which he never uses and almost always comes to the firing ranges with his bow, bought in 2001.
“It’s an American, a TD4 Hoyt. This bow is old. The guys at the club call it the tire changer, ”says the interested party, laughing heartily.
Over the years, Philippe Pasquier won some trophies.
He was notably Pays de la Loire indoor shooting champion in 2020. But he does not live for the pride of trophies.
on pride simply consists of wear the colors of his club.
“My core is the club. I don’t know who is the French shooting champion this year and I don’t care. What is important for me is the club. »
