Poviglio and Ares Milano Memori guests at De Benedetti

Full weekend with two days of baseball in the “Città di Piacenza-Memorial Giovanni De Benedetti” Tournament. Now in its twenty-fifth edition, the event that traditionally represents the flagship of Piacenza’s pre-season calendar has this year Poviglio, the formation of the top flight, as well as the Milanese Ares that the red and white will meet again in the league .

With Poviglio on Saturday, with Milan on Sunday

It will be the most difficult challenge for Piacenza, the one with Poviglio, to open the De Benedetti on Saturday (starting at 3.30pm). Games over the distance of 7 innings with all the conditions to be able to enjoy real baseball right away. The Reggio players are returning from the brilliant salvation achieved last year on their absolute debut in Serie A and for this 2023 they cultivate the ambition to further consolidate their presence in the queen category. On Saturday they will still be without their foreign pitcher Frank Luis Medina, a Cuban who had an excellent season last year. Despite this probable absence, Poviglio always represents a dangerous opponent who will certainly claim to make a good impression in the triangle named after the founder of Piacenza baseball.

The second day will see, on Sunday, the likeable Faso enter the Ares Milano scene. At 11 he will face the loser of the Saturday match and at 15 the winner. Piacenza does not want to start beaten and will be able to count on the full squad, also regaining possession of Dall’Agnese and Perez who last Sunday were on “loan” to Bergamo Walls, their home club, in the Chia Memorial won by the home team with Piacenza he had to settle for second place. Two weeks after the championship premiere, the result can still take on a relative significance but the performance is rightly expected, in the presence of undoubtedly reliable opponents. And in any case, beyond everything, it would not be unbecoming to be able to engrave one’s name in the golden register of the home tournament for the fifth time.
