On February 19, 2023, two big days dedicated to the regional indoor archery championships were organized by the Archers of Lunel on two sites, with a competition divided into two stages for this final. The qualifying shots take place in the morning, the afternoon being devoted to the duels by direct elimination. We could see clashes in the three disciplines: barebow, compound bow or recurve bow.
The two representatives of Séméac Olympique Tir à l’Arc, Nanou Frenet-Marchand and Stéphane Durrieux qualified for these final phases, therefore made the trip.
For this, these two archers had to compete in various competitions in particular in Vic-en-Bigorre, Lescar, Hagetmau, Auch, Blagnac, Pau and finally Bressols. The results are promising since Nanou and Stéphane obtain their qualification with respectively a 2nd and 8th place in the general classification before the final. In Lunel, from 8 a.m., the archers were ready to do battle: 9 for women and 21 for men. The eliminations were made on each series until only the 4 best archers were kept for the semi-finals. Nanou will reach the final and will obtain a very nice silver medal confirming her good form at the moment. As for Stéphane, his shots will allow him to reach the semi-finals and he will be on the third step of the podium. He thus achieved his objectives for a first participation at such a level. Congratulations to our two archers for these great results.
Today, the club’s competitors have their eyes turned towards Brittany, where the final of the French Nature Shooting Championship will be held in May. But you still have to qualify to get there. There is no doubt that the latter will make every effort to achieve this and that the next training sessions or various qualifying phases will be used to perfect themselves; in any case all the applicants have the desire and will do everything to achieve this so that the colors of Séméac and the club shine on the highest steps.
