Tennis: That’s what Boris Becker thinks about Novak Djokovic’s record – TENNIS

Becker bows!

The 22-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic (35) is spending his 378th week at the top of the world rankings at the beginning of this week, overtaking our tennis legend Steffi Graf (53). His former coach Boris Becker (55) is impressed by this performance.

Becker on “Eurosport”: “I never thought that this record could be broken. That’s an incredible achievement. As a compatriot, I would of course have wished that Steffi would continue to be the all-time leader. But since I’m also a close friend of Novak’s, I’m not too unhappy.”

Steffi Graf, also a 22-time Grand Slam winner, spent a total of 377 weeks at the top of the world rankings.

Becker is happy about the new record for the Serb: “Novak is a fantastic guy and a great champion. Records are there to be broken. Sooner or later all records are broken, but this is one for the tennis history books. The clock is still ticking – I think Novak will be number one for a few more weeks before someone takes their crown.

When asked how Djokovic is doing now, Becker replies: “I think he wants to win the 23rd major tournament of his life, which would be the record.” After his victory at the Australian Open, Djokovic now has the French Open ( May 28th to June 11th) on the program.
