A great sports festival, all for women. There were about a hundred girls and boys who took part in the event on Sunday 12 March ‘Basket Girls’. The tournament, organized by Unika Basket Asd, saw teams from all over the Veneto arriving in Verona, who took to the field first in the Fincato Rosani gym and then at the Coni Consolini. The team wins ‘Giants Marghera’ for the Under 13 category e ‘ASD Alto Mantovano’ of Guidizzolo for 8-9 year old Gazelles. Little basketball athletes.
On the same day they were involved, in a sports contest, the students of third, fourth and fifth grades from the strong primary school e all classes of the Fincato Rosani lower secondary school. Girls and boys have ventured into skill tests, reactivity e shrewdness.
Simultaneously with the women’s basketball tournament, parents, coaches and sports managers took part in the round table “Emotions at stake: the value of the women’s team during growth”, with the trainer and developmental therapist Francesca Benedetti. The aim is to sensitize public opinion and families alearly abandonment of sport That in the female world it occurs to a much higher and anticipated extent compared to the male one.
And after the success of the day, Unika Basket Asdthe only women’s basketball club in the city of Verona, is preparing to organize interregional and national events, to raise awareness of women’s basketball and involve more and more girls.
“It was a beautiful day, between sport and in-depth analysis, which allowed us to talk about basketball at 360 degrees – says the president of Unika Basket, Alessandra Corsi -. In parallel with the tournament we wanted to involve parents, clubs and coaches, i.e. all the people who revolve around the girls and their sporting commitment, focusing on the educational part. Numerous food for thought emerged during the round table, as well as the values and personal growth that families register in girls who play on a basketball team”.
“It is only the first of a series of events dedicated to women’s basketball – declares the manager of Unika Basket, Nicoletta Caselin -, we are now aiming for interregional and national fields, where we will carry out important initiatives in the coming months. In fact, we are convinced that by directly involving girls and students, together with parents, sports managers and teachers, it is possible to make this wonderful sport known. And the values it brings with it”.
Unique Basketball Asd offers the possibility of to play basketball to girls and boys in their category: from mini basketballaimed at girls aged 5 to 12, up to senior category. In recent years, the sports club has in fact grown, dedicating space and planning to exclusively female teams. It went from just one youth team and 20 registered players in the 2020/2021 season to currently 90 members who play in Gazelle teams, Under 13, Under 16 e Women’s promotion.
