Two Quebecers drafted into the NFL?

A page of history could be written during the next NFL Draft at the end of April in Kansas City.

For the first time, two Quebec players, from Estrie and Bois-Francs, could be claimed during the same selection session.

Matthew Bergeron is a tackler who lined up for Syracuse University.

At 6-foot-5 and 320 pounds, his speed, quickness of movement and technique for countering blocks impressed several scouts at the NFL’s tryout camp in Indianapolis in early March.

Bergeron grew up in Victoriaville, played his minor football with the Vicas of the Boisé school, before evolving for two collegiate seasons at Cégep de Thetford.

In addition to his athletic qualities, his personality and his charisma make him a natural leader, he who was captain of his university team.

Pundits predict he could be picked in the second round, making him the second-fastest drafted Quebec native after Tshimanga Biakabutuka, a former Vanier Cheetahs running back picked in the mid-1990s by the Vancouver Panthers. Carolina.

Sow also catches the eye

Another Quebec offensive lineman, Sidy Sow from Bromont, is also attracting the attention of recruiters.

The one who wore #62 with Eastern Michigan University played in high school for the JH Leclerc Incroyables in Granby.

Sidy Sow played for one season (2015) with the Lennoxville Champlain College Cougars. That’s when he made the transition from defensive tackle to offensive guard.

Of a more reserved nature than Matthew Bergeron, his potential is no less high.

It is seen as a possible choice between the 5th and the 7th – and final – round.
