Hockey forward Jakub Vrána scored two goals in the NHL match, the loss of St. Louis with Minnesota 5:8, but he did not turn it away. The Czech forward scored twice in one match for the first time this season and, after being traded from Detroit, improved his record in the Blues jersey to four goals in five games.
The Czech forward scored both of his goals in the first period and secured both with a numerical advantage.
He made his mark for the first time in the 15th minute, when he took over the puck in his own half, slipped between the defending four with a great individual move and finished off a breathtaking solo shot over the shoulder of goalkeeper Marc-André Fleury.
The second goal was added by the forward, who joined the assistance program in October as a Detroit player, which helps hockey players with mental problems, addictions and other issues, and did not return to the ice until mid-December, three minutes later. After a ball in the offensive zone, he got space on the axis of the field and made it 3:1 for the Blues with a hard shot.
St. However, the hopefully played match did not lead Louis to victory. The lead was lost in less than two minutes of the second period, when Minnesota turned the score around with three hits.
Pavel Bučnevich was able to equalize at 4:4, but the Wild responded to his intervention with four goals in a row and jumped to 8:4. The final form was given to the result by Bučnevich, who scored his second hat trick in the NHL.
Toronto fell to Colorado 1-2 on single runs, losing its second home game in three days. Nathan MacKinnon set up the victory for the defending Stanley Cup champions in a shootout. The Avalanche won for the third time in a row and moved to fifth place in the Western Conference.
Washington defeated Buffalo 5-4 on runs and scored an important two points in the fight for a place in the playoffs. The Capitals moved ahead of the Sabers for 10th place in the Eastern Conference and are five points behind the Islanders, who hold the second wild card for the playoffs. Buffalo is one point back.
The Islanders maintained their lead thanks to a 6-3 win on the ice of Anaheim. Kyle Palmieri led the New York team’s win with a goal and three assists. Brock Nelson scored two goals.
