Walking at 25 km/h, no kidding, it’s possible!

Equipped with a treadmill, the Lopifit is an amazing electric bike that can be used standing up, while walking, and not sitting down, while pedaling. Of Dutch origin, the machine was imported into France by the serial entrepreneur Hervé Houdre. He wants to make it known to as many people as possible by targeting holiday residences, campsites, leisure parks and bike rental companies located in tourist areas.

With a speed of 25 km/h, it has everything to seduce all those who wish to maintain their physical shape without having to choose between walking and cycling. Invented in the Netherlands, the Lopifit presents itself as “a unique bicycle”. It is an electric bike with an integrated treadmill which allows the user to walk normally on foot and to move around by rolling.

Unlike the electric scooter, this means of transport is not passive. He requires movement and a little effort to move forward, combining mobility and fitness. With a Lopifit, you can walk at a speed of about 5 km/h and cover the same distance as if you were on a bicycle while driving up to 25 km/h. Thanks to the electronic assistance, there is no extra effort compared to walking.

The integrated treadmill bike is “ideal for commuting between home and work, but also for taking walks in nature”. It offers unprecedented sensations, because, apart from airport treadmills, we are not used to walking on a moving device, and even less to direct it. “We’ve had over 500 people try Lopifit, and the reactions are always the same. Users find it great, fun and surprising. The Lopifit provides an unequaled feeling of freedom,” explains Hervé Houdre, the French importer of this machine.

At first, the entrepreneur wants to make the product known to as many people as possible. He will stick to target holiday residences, campsites, leisure parks and bicycle rental companies located in tourist areas. He then aims to create a network of resellers and maintainers, in order to “offer an original and sought-after product” to sellers of cycles and soft mobility.

On a practical level, this rather special kind of bike is very easy to use. To start it, you have to put one foot on the mat, pretend to throw a scooter, then walk on the mat. Walking detection automatically triggers the electric assistance. The brake handles stop the treadmill, then the disc brakes guarantee a quick and safe stopping of the bike. All you have to do is try.
