The island of Djerba will be, from this Thursday, April 27, 2023, the Arab capital of archery on the occasion of the 12th edition of the Arab championship of the discipline which will take place at the Mustapha Eddouri stadium in Midoun until to Sunday 30 current.
It is the flagship event of the Arab Shooting Union for the year 2023, because this championship announces, in fact, the start of the international qualifying competitions for the 2024 Olympic Games, including the qualifying African championship. Olympic Games in Paris and which will take place next November in Nabeul.
Some 63 fencers representing 10 countries, namely Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq, Jordan, Sudan, Egypt, Algeria in addition to Tunisia (host country) will be Thursday morning in Midoun, on the starting line to compete for four days in the individual, team and mixed events with the hope of getting on the podium.
Twelve athletes, six girls and six boys, will defend the Tunisian colors at this deadline, three in each senior and junior category broken down as follows:
senior boys Ahmed Hammed, Belgacem Elmekki, Firas Ayachi
Junior boys : Dhia Romdhan, Ali Khalil, Belgacem Berriche
senior girls : Rihab Elwalid, Zeineb Elhezel, Roua Abdelkader
Junior Girls : Meriem Ben Dhaou, Sarra Hamza, Isra Chaieb.
