In Quilmes, the Governor of the Province of Buenos Aires made the formal announcement of the 32nd edition that will have its end in September in Mar del Plata.
With the aim of disseminating and promoting registration for the Buenos Aires Games, the Governor of the Province, Axel Kicillof, led the event in Quilmes that served as the launching point for the program that this year celebrates 32 uninterrupted editions. Next to him was the Minister of Community Development Andrés Larroque, the President of the Florencia Saintout Cultural Institute, the Undersecretary of Sports Leandro Lurati and the Mayor Mayra Mendoza.
Through this public policy, we will seek to promote the inclusion of boys and girls, young people, the elderly and people with disabilities in the most popular sports tournament in the Province and the country. Last year, 350,000 people took part in the event, with 30,000 finalists meeting in Mar del Plata. In total, the Buenos Aires Games had more than 20 million participants throughout its history.
More than 2,000 attendees gathered at the Quilmes Sports Center, a municipality led by Mayra Mendoza, among figures from the provincial political arc, Mayors, municipal Sports, Education and Culture secretaries, representatives of Province Federations, athletes and coaches from Buenos Aires, members of municipal delegations that will participate this year in the competition, authorities of provincial neighborhood clubs, and members of the cultural and educational community.
In addition, the day featured more than twenty sports and cultural shows representing the more than 100 disciplines that will be held at the Buenos Aires Games this year, such as Taekwondo, Chess, Volleyball, Athletics, Newcom, Folklore and Malambo.
As last year, the number of disciplines for people with disabilities will be maintained in activities such as Para Badminton, Wheelchair Basketball, Goalball, among others; as well as the participation of transplanted people in Athletics, Swimming and Table Tennis.
In turn, the provincial authorities delivered the Buenos Aires Challenge Cup to the municipality of Lomas de Zamora (this award is given to the district that collected the most gold medals during the 2022 Provincial Final in Mar del Plata), and the Community Cup to Merlo (this recognition granted by the organization of the Buenos Aires Games is given to that municipality that stands out during its stay in the Provincial Final through the values of commitment, responsibility and solidarity that make the exercise of fair play).
The event this year will have its three usual stages of competition: Municipal,
Regional and Provincial Final. There will be time until April 30 for young people, people with disabilities, the elderly, transplant recipients and university students to sign up and represent their municipality.
The Municipal Stage will take place from May 1 to June 30. The date stipulated for the Regional phase is scheduled between July 1 and August 31; while the provincial government announced that the Provincial Final will take place in September in the city of Mar del Plata.
