Three cell phones are on the table in front of him.
“I would probably ask a guy like that if everything is okay with him,” says Mischa Zverev (35) and smiles. “But there is no other way. I have a German, a French and a USA number. It’s also useful if I can work on emails on one device and watch Sascha’s games on another if I can’t be there live.”
Mischa Zverev is the big brother, adviser and multi-manager behind Alexander “Sascha” Zverev (26).
Even longtime As a tennis pro (top position in the world rankings in 2017: 25), he knows exactly what is important on the tour: “I try to have his back free so that he can focus on tennis. I give advice when he needs it. And support you in strategic decisions.” The two founded the Alexander Zverev Foundation to fight diabetes with their parents Alexander Senior and Irina.
In addition, the family (residing in Hamburg, Monte Carlo and Tampa/Florida) is involved in ten start-ups, including the Munich company Improvr, which develops VR glasses for virtual life kinetics training, which the brothers use themselves.
“We were brought up in such a way that we go through life with open eyes, always trying to broaden our horizons,” says Mischa.
It is fitting that flying is his great passion and that he even has a pilot’s license. “My dream is to one day be able to fly to my appointments myself,” he says.
And there are many appointments. He works as a tennis expert for the channels Sky, Eurosport and the tennis channel on the Internet, even with his own format as “Professor Z”.
As a tournament ambassador for the BMW Open and for the first time as director of the Para tournament, he is active this week at the Aumeister in Munich.
And in the coming season, Mischa Zverev will also serve for the MTTC Iphitos in the Bundesliga: “Even playing tennis, sometimes even in smaller tournaments, is a bit like vacation for me. Because the cell phones stay in your pocket.”
