The Gaston Monnerville high school of Cahors wants to anchor its formations in the future with in sight theenergetic efficiency and the fight against global warming.

To do this, the school is part of the “Our school, let’s do it together” approach launched by the National Council for Refoundation for its training, the objective of which is to establish an educational project adapted to the local context, in partnership between the educational community but also companies and local partners (AC Watt companies, Territoire Énergie Lot, etc.). Several projects can thus be carried out thanks to specific funds, which can be one-off or more permanent.

A grant of €50,000 for the Cahors high school

The school has therefore just received a first grant of €50,000, and others could follow. Already a pioneer in these new energies thanks to its technological platform focused on photovoltaics, the school is already involved in training for companies and local development, in particular with its Carport project (photovoltaic charging station for electric vehicles).

Training around hydrogen

From now on, the school wants to go even further by developing a training course based around an energy of the future: hydrogen. The Monnerville high school has thus obtained this funding of €50,000 to create a FabLab around this hydrogen energy, which will allow students to be trained in this technology of tomorrow but also local companies and partners to access this training. The school has also applied for other subsidies in order to develop its technical platforms, and also to develop its training in maintenance professions, in particular automotive, by the purchase of hydrogen vehicles for example.

With its current skills in photovoltaics and these new projects around hydrogen, the Lycée Monnerville wishes to position itself and see how to couple these two energies, solar and hydrogen. It is also an asset for these sectors of automotive or industrial maintenance which are highly sought-after professions in the sector, between aeronautics in Toulouse and Mécanic Vallée around Figeac. It is also an asset to interest students, now in middle school, in these local courses.
