The sports network ESPN fired the reporter from the Major League Baseball (MLB), Marly Rivera, following an incident at Yankee Stadium in which she insulted a fellow journalist who was waiting to interview Aaron Judge.
According to the information collected by the New York Post, Rivera would have said “Fucking cut” in the middle of the field of play to his partnerduring a match played last Tuesday.
It is worth noting that Rivera was a reporter on the Home Run Derby for ESPN and was also on several broadcasts of “Sundat Night Baseball.” In addition, she was an analyst on playoff games for ESPN Radio MLB.
“She does not work here anymore” ESPN told The Post in a statement. So it is understood that she was fired after the event.
In the run-up to the match between the Yankees and Angels, Rivera and his colleague Ivón Gaete had an impasseafter Gaete tried to interview Judge.
Apparently Rivera had agreed to the interview with the Yankees star and when she notified Gaete of that, she ignored her.
In the midst of the discomfort of the moment, Rivera expressed the insults and everything was captured on the video of the interview.
“I fully accept responsibility for what I said. There were extenuating circumstances, but that is in no way an excuse for my actions,” Rivera said in an interview with The Post.
“I am a professional with an excellent reputation in baseball and I believe that I am being singled out by a group of people with whom I have a long history of disagreements professionals,” he added.
The New York Post also indicates that Gaeta is the wife of MLB vice president of communications John Blundell.
Riviera also commented that she and Blundell have had several disagreements in recent yearsa situation that he considers affected what happened with Gaeta and contributed to his dismissal.
