FC Bayern: Report on homesickness! Would it be better if Mané leaves? | Sports

Does Sadio Mané (31) still have a future at FC Bayern?

Since his beating derailment against Leroy Sané (27) after the quarter-final first leg in the Champions League at Manchester City (0: 3), Mané is the face of the crisis at the record champions.

The Senegal superstar, who was so disappointing in sport recently (no goal yet in 2023), apologized internally for his freak out, accepted a fine (according to BILD information it should be in the mid six-digit range) and served his suspension against Hoffenheim (1: 1). However, his image in Munich has been permanently damaged.

In England there are even wild rumors about a Liverpool return! According to Football Insider, Mané is said to have told friends that he misses Liverpool and wants to go back to the island.

According to BILD information, a return to Liverpool, for whom he played from 2016 to 2022, is currently not an issue for Africa’s footballer of the year.

Would it still be better if Mané leaves?

The fact is: When the Bayern bosses took him from Liverpool last summer as a star commitment for a fee of EUR 32 million plus bonuses, sports director Hasan Salihamidzic (46) and Co. Manés had imagined the first season on Säbener Straße very differently.

After a strong start with three goals in his first three games, the versatile offensive rocket lost just as much. Turning point: November 8, 2022, when Mané suffered a torn tendon on his fibula head, had to have an operation in Innsbruck and missed a career highlight with the World Cup in Qatar.

Since this setback, even after the comeback at the end of February, things have not gone uphill …

► Under Julian Nagelsmann (35), Mané had to switch from the wings to the center of the attack and back again and again, and has not yet found his position in the Bayern game under Thomas Tuchel (49).

► In the game, Bayern’s number 17 often seems cut off from the rest of the team and is rarely fed the through passes that are so important to him. Even off the field, he doesn’t seem to have really arrived in Munich and the team so far.

► In his first year at Bayern, the Senegalese has only scored eleven goals and five assists to date – far too little for a top earner (estimated at EUR 22 million per year)!

► The storm hole that was caused by the sale of Robert Lewandowski (34) to FC Barcelona (344 goals in 375 games) has not yet been filled by Mané. Nor can he conceal the fact that it was a fatal mistake by the sporting management not to sign another nine next to the injury-prone Eric Maxim-Coupo Moting (34). The proof: Munich’s offensive stars haven’t scored a goal for 400 minutes.

Not remotely what the club, the player and the fans expect!

The Manchester beating scandal now shows particularly drastically how deep Mané’s frustration is.

But Tuchel pardoned his storm star: “I am his first lawyer and his first defender. I only know him as an absolute top professional. He’s never, ever, ever been guilty of anything.”

The coach fully supports Mané: “He has my complete trust. He had that before and he still has that after this mistake.”

“Sky” reports on Monday that it can be heard that Tuchel does not see any sporting prospects for Mané at Bayern in the coming season. Mané is now also viewed critically on the executive floor. Accordingly, his claim and performance should not go together. According to “Sky”, his freak out would have led to many players distancing themselves from him internally. All in all, Bayern would sell Mané in the summer if there was a suitable buyer.

The question is whether the Bayern bosses still have the confidence that Mané will find his old Liverpool form again.
